Hur analyserar man en engelsk text.
Jag behöver hjälp med det för jag fick tillbaka mitt uppdrag för att göra om analysen för tydligen hade jag skrivit en Bokrecension istället för en analys.
T.ex så valde jag att läsa boken "Between the world and me". Utifrån romanen ska jag göra en analys. Vad är det jag ska tänka på och hur ska jag t.ex börja?
Fundera objektivt över hur saker berättas, vad som berättas och varför det berättas. Sakerna du skriver i en analys ska inte ha något med vad du tycker om boken. Det är irrelevant. Självklart blir det din tolkning, men inte på det sättet att "jag tyckte boken var bra eftersom bla bla men det jag inte gillade var bla bla bla..".
Sedan kan det också ha varit att du la för mycket tid på att återberätta handlingen i din analys, vilket egentligen ska göras väldigt kort.
Aha okej. Men hur ska en analys vara uppbyggd?
Har du inte fått några instruktioner för hur du ska lägga upp den?
Vanligtvis brukar man diskutera språkbruk, berättarperspektiv, central tematik, karaktärer och deras funktion osv...
Nej fick inte. O har inte sökt upp det själv. För vet inte ifall den svenska analysen om en bok är lika dan som den engelska analysen om en bok.
Så vi säger så här.

Språkbruk: ( vad menar du här, vad exakt ska jag berätta?, hur de talar i boken?)
Berättarperspektiv: ( Hur ska jag veta? är det första-personperspektiv o andra-personperspektiv du menar eller är jag ute o cyklar?)
Tematik: ( vilket tema det är, visst?)
Karaktärer: ( berätta om de olika karaktärerna?)
Funktion: ( vad exakt ska jag berätta här?)

Nej, hon menar inte att du ska analysera alla. Hon gav bara exempel på saker man kan analysera. Ofta väljer man 1-3 grejor beroende hur noga man analyserar varje aspekt.

När man analyserar språkbruket tittar man ofta på hur språket används för att inge känslor. Beroende på hur boken är skriven inges olika känslor.
Tematik är bredare än bara enskilda teman. I de allra flesta böcker behandlas mer än bara ett tema samtidigt, och oftast har de ju något med varandra att göra. Så tänk flera viktiga teman, inte bara ett.
Angående karaktärerna gäller det att dels beskriva dem, och dels förklara vad de har för syfte i berättelsen, vilken funktion de fyller. Bikaraktärerna finns alltid till för att påverka huvudkaraktären på något sätt, exempelvis genom att hjälpa honom, försvåra för honom, och så vidare. I en välskriven berättelse representerar karaktärerna oftast något. Boo Radley i To Kill a Mockinbird representerar exempelvis det okända. Light Yagami i Death Note representerar det monstruösa i människan, det ruttna, det fördärvade. Ganon i Zeldaspelen representerar ondskan och girigheten själv.
Ofta står protagonisten och huvudantagonisten i kontrast till varandra. Gud och djävulen, Zelda (jag vet att Zelda inte är protagonist!) och Ganon, Light och L, Aang och Ozai (kom att tänka på det pga din profilbild, @mrpotatohead!)... Protagonisten och huvudantagonisten används ofta för att förmedla ett ännu bredare tema, t.ex. "kampen mellan det goda och det onda".

Har suttit nu i 2 hela timmar och bara försökt veta hur jag ska börja.
Kan vi snälla börja tillsamman så att jag kan fortsätta.

Mitt problem är att jag inte hur jag ska fortsätta på min text, när det står analys vad är det jag ska ta med? Som sagt har aldrig i hela mitt liv analyserat en text på engelska det är därför jag känner att det är svårt.

Jag tycker att du ska ta ett steg tillbaka och fundera, vad är syftet med din text? Meningen som du lade till är enligt min åsikt inte passande med resten.
Om du ska skriva om religion, då kanske det inte är produktivt att analysera varje karaktär, utan att istället kolla på temat och dra paralleller.

By drawing from a variety of African American intellectual traditions, Between the World and Me illustrates the divide that exists between Black people and those who consider themselves to be White. For example, "The Dream" will most likely evoke memories of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "Dream" from his "I Have a Dream" speech. It also reminds me of 'The American Dream.' Coates's "Dream," on the other hand, is a more accurate assessment of the tenets upon which America was founded: institutional racism, the enslavement of Black people as chattel slaves, Jim Crow laws, redlining, and, most recently, mass imprisonment. He investigates the Dreamers, or those who defend themselves in secure, dreamy suburbs, think of themselves as white, and permit the annihilation of the Black body.
